Participants arriving by air:

• Via Granada Airport:

Granada Airport is situated 17 km outside Granada and is mainly served by flights from Barcelona and Madrid.
The BONAL bus company runs a service between the city centre (Plaza de Isabel la Catolica, single fare about EUR 2.50) and the airport connecting with scheduled flights. From Plaza de Isabel la Catolica, go to Plaza Nueva and take the `Alhambra minibus' (departing every 10 min.) which stops slightly further down the hill from the Hotel Alixares del Generalife.
A taxi between the airport and the hotel costs about EUR 25.00.
 
• Via Malaga Airport:

Malaga Airport is 8 km south west of the city centre and has convenient direct flights from Barcelona, Brussels, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Helsinki, London Gatwick, Madrid, Milan, Paris Orly and Zurich. It is connected to the city's main station by RENFE rail service (journey time about 15 minutes) or by bus in 20 minutes (to the Iberia Terminal, Molina Lario 13).  There is a bus service (departure point near the main railway station) run by ALSINA GRALS company to Granada. The bus runs every hour and costs about EUR 10.00. Journey time is about 2 hours.
A taxi to Granada costs about EUR 110.00.

Participants arriving by train via Madrid:

The most convenient TALGO train leaving Madrid is at 08.20 (approx) and arriving in Granada at 14.15 (times to be checked).
A Single fare Madrid-Granada costs about EUR 25.00 - 30.00.

Participants arriving by road:

From Madrid take the N 323 (E25) south to Granada. The N 323 becomes the outer ring-road or "Circunvalacion" upon reaching Granada.
From Malaga, Sevilla, or Granada Airport, follow the N 342 (A 92) east, then take the exit "Circunvalacion" (direction Motril, Sierra Nevada) to get onto the outer ring-road .
Once on the Circunvalacion, take the exit "Ronda Sur", which is the south ring-road. Exit the Ronda Sur at "Alhambra / Sierra Nevada". After the tunnel, take the left lane to the Alhambra. Then follow the signs to the Alhambra and Avenida de los Alixares. This itinerary forces one to almost encircle the city but enables to avoid the heavy inner city traffic.
