INSTALL.TXT file for Chime(TM) 0.9z for SGI
===============================================

1. Read and accept the license agreement (license.txt)

2. Copy the included "libchimeplugin.so" into either:
 
   a) /usr/local/lib/netscape/plugins/ (you may have to create this
      directory.)

   b) Your personal Netscape configuration directory, which is 
      ~/.netscape/plugins/ (you may have to create this directory.)

   or set the environment variable NPX_PLUGIN_PATH to the directory
   where you untar'ed the Chime plug-in.

3. Once this us done you should be able to restart Netscape Navigator
   and go to the "Help" "About Plug-ins" menu and see "libchimeplugin.so"
   listed with the chemical mime types Chime supports.

4. Make sure you are using Netscape Navigator 3.01. Make sure and restart
   Navigator after you have installed the Chime plug-in.

Issues
======

1. Although the Chime plug-in only provides 8-bit graphics adapter support, 
   you can run it on a system with a 24-bit graphics adapter by running Netscape 
   Navigator with the following command line option:

     netscape -visual pseudocolor

2. Chime runs on SGI systems using IRIX 5.3 or IRIX 6.2. SGI has notified
   us that there are some problems with Motif on IRIX 5.3 which were 
   resolved in IRIX 6.2.
