It has unique qualities that appeal to a very wide range of people."

  • The second fastest team sport on campus (after Ice Hockey)
  • For those who've never played it before, it's a bit like ice hockey, but without the boxing matches that usually go with it (er, well, usually). It's played on in-line skates with a puck or a ball and we play indoors in Westwood Games Hall (or at least until the university builds something better).

  • Recreational games three times a week.
  • Thursday evenings, Saturday and Sunday afternoons in the Games Hall. We have gradually increased our playing time as the hall has got more popular. One of the sessions is always reserved for beginners or anyone interested in a 'taster' - see the noticeboard for details.

  • Warwick is the best university to try the sport
  • The university is at the heart of British Universities Off-Ice Hockey. We are a well established club, so we have a lot of equipment including skates and protective equipment for anyone who wants to try it out for the first time, and we are lucky enough to be able to play in our own sports hall. So hockey at Warwick is inexpensive as well as fun.

  • A sport for everyone, from beginner to the supremely talented.
  • You don't have to know how to skate when you start and we will provide skates for anyone who wishes to try the sport. We now have three teams, an A team for experienced skaters who play in the GBHI Midlands league, a B team which is a feeder for the A team and a C team for everyone else. We aim to play as many matches as possible - this year we will have played about 65 - and hope to be able to involve the whole club in competitive games by term 2.

  • The Social Side ...
  • We meet after the session on Thursday and last year organised a variety of social events, ice skating, ice hockey games, an All Star game and a visit to Paris to skate round at night with a police escort seeing the sights.

  • The most fun way to learn how to skate.
  • Even as a beginner chasing the ball around the Games Hall while trying to score goals is much more of an incentive to learn how to skate than going round in circles, and it's testament to how much fun street hockey is that the for last two years most of the club are STILL turning up regularly during the third term. Not many other clubs can say that.

Join the street hockey club - you know it makes sense.
