The Origins of SAC-CASP:
Following suggestions raised at CASP4, an addendum meeting for students
and post-docs was held immediately following CASP5 at the Asilomar
Conference Center, December 5-6, 2002. The meeting featured a large
number of short, informal talks and time for focused discussions. The
meeting was very successful, participants particularly appreciated the
chance to discuss details of methods and implementations more
thoroughly than was possible at CASP.
What SAC-CASP6 will be:
SAC-CASP6 will be held in Gaeta and use the same conference facilities
of CASP. It will take place one day before CASP6 (December 3rd 2004),
unlike SAC-CASP 2002, which took place inmediately after CASP5.
As in CASP, there will be presentations and discussion forums. However, unlike CASP, participation will be restricted to just students, post-docs and technicians.
Implementation:
The plan is for SAC-CASP6 to last a day and a half, starting before
CASP6 on December 3rd and ending immediately before CASP6 on December
4th. Since the SAC-CASP6 meeting will take place in the same
hotel/venue as the main CASP meeting, SAC-CASP participants will need
reservations for one additional night in the hotel. Food will also be
provided by the same catering services as that for the CASP meeting.
Participants will be invited to submit an abstract containing an outline of the presentation (roughly 1000 words). Talks will be approximately 15-20 minutes long, and there will be ample time for questions. Up to 20 abstracts will be selected for presentation at the meeting (there were 17 presentations in 2002), the rest will be taken into consideration for the poster session. Abstract selection will be at the organisers' discretion.
