Description: | Spirochete spiral-shaped bacterium. Highly specialized, motile, with
two membranes, it lives primarily as an extracellular pathogen.
It is the causative agent of Lyme borreliosis. It was first isolated
in the early 1980s from the midgut of Ixodes ticks.
