Structure

Data information Databases
The major structure database is call Protein Data Bank (pdb)
Each entry is save as a flat text and is given a 3 unique string code (number or letters). This text contains the coordinates of each atom of the protein which different structures viewers program such as rasmol are able to process
The growth of gene and protein sequence databases is much higher than the structure databanks. Today is still not possible to determine the structure of a protein just by the aminoacid sequence. Many different Tools have been developed to accomplish this issue but not yet arrive to a single conclusion. As well many databases have been build to help. There are databases that classified existing structures by structure conserve regions (fold conservation) SCOP, others store structural alignments FSSP or keeps track of the relation of the known structure sequences proteins with sequences in protein databases. (HSSP)
This databases are use for structure predictions
