5S ribosomal RNA is a key component of large subunit of almost all prokaryotic and eukaryotic ribosomes. Easy procedures of its isolation and short length (ca. 120 nt) enabled fast accumulation of the sequence data. The 5S rRNA Database is a collection of all published 5S rRNA sequences and 5S rRNA genes. In addition to the sequence data the web pages contain information on secondary structure and functions and interactions of 5S rRNA. The sequences can be retrieved either as separate files in EMBL format or as sequence alignments. The database is available at http://biobases.ibch.poznan.pl/5SData/
