Description: | Vibrio vulnificus causes primary septicemia and wound infections.
It was first recognized as a causative agent of a fatal septicemic
infection in 1982.
Septicemia occurs following ingestion of raw seafood preferentially
in subjects having underlying diseases such as liver cirrhosis,
hepatitis, hemochromatosis, or diabetes mellitus.
